EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer)
Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that allows the recipient of government benefits to transfer their benefits (such as food stamp dollars and other benefits) to a "retailer" account so they can pay for their government-provided products. EBT transactions can be made with an ATM-like "debit" card, which is magnetically swiped by the retailer. (The application is much the same as is used with ATM, debit, or credit cards.)
